A welder working on metal, throwing sparks

Welded in house

We weld in house at 177 North Station Road. Sills, floor pans, subframes, suspension mounts, exhausts and the corrosion repairs that turn up on an MOT failure sheet.

This is the job a lot of garages send out, which is why it takes them a week. You can book it in, drive in, or ring first and describe what you have got, and we will tell you whether it is something we can weld or something that needs replacing.

What we weld

Sills and floor pans. Subframes and suspension mounting points. Exhaust sections and brackets. The structural corrosion within 30 centimetres of a seatbelt or suspension mounting that fails a car on its MOT.

There is a point where a panel has gone too far to weld, and when we get there we will say so rather than patch it and hand it back.

Three ways to sort it

  1. Book it in

Ring and we will put you in the diary for a day that suits.

  2. Drive in

Come to the workshop on North Station Road and we will have a look.

  3. Just ask

Send a photo on WhatsApp and we will tell you what we think before you come anywhere.

Got welding to do?

Send a photo of it and we will tell you whether it is a weld or a replacement before you bring the car in.

Get a price for welding

Would rather not ring? Tell us the registration and what you need, and we will come back to you.

So we can look up what your car needs before you arrive.

We use this to ring you back about your car. We may also text you about it, and when things like an MOT or a service fall due. Every message says how to stop, and you can tell us to stop at any time. How we handle it

Questions we get asked

Can you weld a car that has failed its MOT on corrosion?

That is a large part of what we do. Bring the failure sheet, which will say where the corrosion is, and we will tell you what putting it right costs. Then take it back for the retest.

How much does welding cost?

It depends completely on what has to be cut out and let in, so a price on a web page would be a guess. Send a photo or bring it in and we will give you a real number before anything is started.

Do I need to book?

Not necessarily. You can book it in, drive in, or ring first. Ringing first means we can tell you whether the ramp is free.

Do you do MOTs?

No. We are not an MOT test station, so we cannot do the test itself. What we do is everything a car fails on, and everything that comes up as an advisory: brakes, tyres, suspension, exhausts, corrosion and welding. Bring us the failure sheet and we will tell you what it costs to put right.
