We fix what an MOT finds
We are not an MOT test station, so we do not do the test. What we do is the repairs: brakes, tyres, suspension, exhausts, corrosion and welding, which between them account for most of what a car fails on.
Bring in the failure sheet or the advisory list from wherever you had it tested, and we will go through it line by line and tell you what each item costs. You are welcome to take it back for the retest afterwards.

What cars usually fail on
Year after year the same things come up: lights and signalling, suspension, brakes, tyres and visibility. Corrosion and exhaust faults account for a good share of the rest, and those are the ones a lot of garages subcontract because they cannot weld.
We can, in house. If a structural repair needs welding to pass, that is work we do ourselves.

Do you do MOTs?
No. We are not an MOT test station, so we cannot do the test itself. What we do is everything a car fails on, and everything that comes up as an advisory: brakes, tyres, suspension, exhausts, corrosion and welding. Bring us the failure sheet and we will tell you what it costs to put right.
What is the difference between a failure and an advisory?
A failure means the car cannot legally be driven until it is put right. An advisory means the tester has seen something that is not a failure yet but will be, often within the year. Advisories are worth acting on early, because they are usually cheaper to fix before they become failures.
Can you do the retest?
No, because we are not a test station. Take it back to whoever tested it. Most offer a free or reduced retest if you bring it back within a set period, so it is worth asking what theirs is.
Do I have to use the garage that tested my car for the repairs?
No. You can have the work done anywhere you like and take it back for the retest. Getting a second price is normal and nobody should make you feel awkward about it.
