If your brakes are squealing, grinding, pulling to one side or the pedal feels soft, bring the car in and we will look at it. Checking costs nothing.

We replace pads, discs and brake fluid on cars and vans at 177 North Station Road. The prices below are per axle, which means both sides, and they include the parts, the labour and VAT.

Questions we get asked

My brakes squeal. Is that dangerous?

A squeal is often the wear indicator doing its job, which means the pads are near the end. A grinding noise is worse: that is usually metal on metal, and it turns a pad job into a pad and disc job. Either way it is worth getting looked at rather than waiting.

Why do you replace both sides?

Because brakes have to pull evenly. A new pad on one side and a worn one on the other makes the car pull under braking, which is more dangerous than the worn pad was.

How long do brake pads last?

It depends entirely on how and where you drive. Town driving wears them faster than motorway miles. Rather than guess, bring it in and we will measure what is left, which costs nothing.

Do you do MOTs?

No. We are not an MOT test station, so we cannot do the test itself. What we do is everything a car fails on, and everything that comes up as an advisory: brakes, tyres, suspension, exhausts, corrosion and welding. Bring us the failure sheet and we will tell you what it costs to put right.
